The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) held an ordination ceremony of eleven (11) pastor’s candidates at Nakayale Cathedral on 02 August 2026. Nine of them are males and two are females. The ordination ceremony conducted by the ELCIN presiding Bishop Dr Gideon Niitenge, and a Bishop of western Diocese, assisted by Bishop Hilja Nghaangulwa of the Eastern Diocese, and other five for pastors.

The ELCIN Church Council resolved the five ordains to be placed on Eastern Diocese, whilst six of them on the Western Diocese, said Rev, Dr Johannes Haufiku the, ELCIN General Secretary, prior he presented the candidates to be ordained.
The Eastern Diocese, Executive Secretary Rev, Aron Set Kanana, indicated the resolution of Diocesan Councils regarding the appointment of new pastors designated to the Parishes as follows:

 Rev. Mestilde Meke Tenga – Oluwaya Parish
 Rev. Ayeshe Lyauvika Embundile – Betel Onamukulo Parish
 Rev. Kristof Mweneni Nashongo – Gobabis Parsh
 Rev. Thomas Panduleni Kandume – Haleluja (Keetmanshop) Parish
 Rev. Tylves Nghipandulwa Lickizon – Elombe Parish.

The Western Diocesan, Executive Secretary Rev Likius Nambili Namutewa also, designated the resolution of Diocesan Council and appointment of new pastors in the Parishes as follows:

 Rev. Leonard Homateni Ngwilili – Onheleiwa Parish
 Rev. Andreas Shivute- Onkani Parsh
 Rev. Andreas Pombili Kovenduka Linus- OnyekaParish
 Rev. Johannes Neshuku- Oniimwandi Parish
 Rev. Matheus Mekondjo Ndahomenwa – Onangalo Parish
 Rev. Wilhelmina Ndapewa Iiyambo – Uukwandongo Parish.

Both ordained pastors commenced pastoral duties on 09 August 2026, to the respective parishes.
This was the historical event as it was a first ordination ceremony conducted by both Bishop of ELCIN, Dr Gideon Niitenge and Hilja Nghaangulwa, since their installation in 2024.
That Sunday the worship services were conducted by the new ordained pastors Rev Mateus Mekondjo Ndahomenwa and Rev Thomas Panduleni Kandume, and sermon by Rev Wilhelmina Ndapewa Iiyambo.

The event was attended by a huge number from the societies, such traditional leaders, political leaders and religious leaders. ELCRN church was represented. It was entertained by Tollite Hostias Choir, which provided clergy attires, Bibles, altar books and others to all new pastors ordained. Other Choirs Eastern and Western Diocesan were also took part. Theme of the day was “Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flocks the Holy Spirit has placed into your care…” Acts. 20:28.
